DGGE results are presented as a picture of the gel with DNA bands labeled. A table listing the bands with their closest genera match and some information about the genera identified is also provided. The information obtained from DGGE analysis is useful to identify the presence of dominant genera or types of bacteria. It can also be used to show shifts and differences in the microbial communities among locations and over time.
